Breed Specific Styling

There are over 190 different breeds recognized by the AKC. Some dogs, called natural coated dogs, don't need any, or very little trimming. Whereas other dogs, called groom-able dogs, need regular trimming.

The groom-able dogs have specific styles set by the AKC. We at Petsquisite Salon try to make your dog look true-to-breed. In other words, when you walk your dog, people do not have to guess what breed your dog is, they will be able to tell.

Hand Scissored Finishes Hand Scissored Finishes Hand scissoring is an art. It takes a lot of practice and a little bit of talent. Hand scissoring is a lot more difficult than shaving. It is also more time consuming. It gives a nicer, more even finish, than shaving. We do a lot of hand scissoring in our salon.

Some cats seem very independent, but one thing is certain, they want LOVE. People who have more than one cat will tell you, cats groom each other as well as themselves. This is known as pride mentality, and you can become a 'pride member' by brushing your cat frequently for short periods of time. This shows your affection in terms cats understand naturally.

Although cats seem to groom themselves endlessly, it may not be enough. Regular brushing helps to remove dead hair and tangles, and helps to distribute the natural oils. This way, the cat's hair remains healthy and shiny.
